Parish based programs for the Sacraments of Confirmation, First Eucharist and Penance are held each year.
Confirmation is offered to children who are in Year 3 and up to/including Year 6 in the Queensland Education System.
First Eucharist is offered to children who are in Year 4 and up to/including Year 6 in the Queensland Education System who have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Penance is offered to children in Year 5 and above who have received the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist.
The children journeying toward full initiation into the Catholic faith are prepared for these Sacraments within the family and supported by the worshipping Catholic Community.
The programs are designed for the family with their child to gain knowledge about the Catholic faith and to immerse themselves into the practice of the Catholic faith. The family and child will be encouraged to develop a close relationship with Jesus Christ and to connect with his message. The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated by our Bishops. First Holy Communion is celebrated during Sunday Mass. The family will be introduced to the Sacrament of Penance through the rite of reconciliation which provides an experience of the love and the forgiveness that God has for us.
The post sacramental program provides the young person with opportunities for assisting at the Altar as an Altar Server, participation in the Children's Liturgy of the Word at the 9am Sunday Mass.

The Welcoming of Adults to our Community through the programs of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and the Rite of the Christian welcoming of other Christians (RCIC)
Each year, the parish community welcomes at the Easter Vigil new members to our Catholic Church through baptism and confirmation and welcoming to receive the Eucharist for the first time. The program begins in the second half of the year with a few enquiry nights followed by an interview with the Parish Priest.
The program continues weekly with those who are wishing to join the Catholic Church participating in a formal process of learning about the Catholic faith, living the faith and undergoing conversion to the person of Jesus Christ and his message and teachings.
If you wish to join the Catholic Church and would like to find out more about the process, an Enquiry Night will take place on Wednesday 14 August 2019, 7pm at the Holy Cross Church, Kippa Ring. Please contact the Parish Office for further information.
Marriages are celebrated in the Parish Churches of Holy Cross and Mary Queen of Peace. We welcome the young adults of our parish families to celebrate their marriages in the Parish Churches. Marriage is an important commitment which needs a lot of planning and preparation not only from the organisation side but also the spiritual aspect. The Catholic Church views marriage as a Sacrament and invites those who are contemplating this step to begin the Church preparations early.
At Holy Cross, we ask those who are contemplating marriage to ring the office and book an appointment with the Parish Priest even before a booking is made at a reception venue.
PLEASE GIVE THE PARISH OFFICE AT LEAST A CLEAR TWELVE MONTHS NOTICE.
This will ensure that the priest's availability for your wedding is confirmed. During this initial interview, the priest will make arrangements for you to undertake a parish based marriage preparation program and discuss with you the marriage ceremony. These programs have been assisting our couples for over a decade and are conducted by trained and dedicated marriage preparation couples who have been assisting with this ministry for over a decade. We encourage you to begin this program at engagement. There are regular meetings with the priest who is celebrating you marriage at which attention will be given to the paperwork, the ceremony and discussions around celebrating the Sacrament of Marriage.
The Parish Office receives many requests from young people who live outside the parish and wish to get married in Holy Cross Church. An appointment will be made with the parish priest for him to discuss this request with you.
Some couples have invited a priest who is a family friend to celebrate their marriage. The visiting priest is most welcome but again, the couple making these arrangements are asked to make an appointment with the parish priest first to ensure the smooth celebration of their marriage.
We occasionally receive a request for the celebration of marriages in special places including Chapels. Again, an initial appointment with the parish priest is asked to ensure that you special day is celebrated with dignity and within the rites of the Church.
